Alumni Achievement Award: Melissa Zmyslo

An HIV prevention specialist for the Berrien County Health Department,ÌýMelissa Zmyslo provides HIV testing and counseling, works on caseÌýreporting and presents HIV training in the community and schools.

Through her efforts, Berrien County has been recognized by the State for itsÌýimproved client return rate and has made an impact with its outreach education.ÌýMelissa is chair of the HIV/STD/AIDS subcommittee of the Benton Harbor HealthÌýAwareness/Improvement task force, which was appointed by Governor JenniferÌýGranholm. She also worked as a teacher at the LINK Crisis Intervention Center andÌýas a youth specialist at the Berrien County Juvenile Center.

She graduated with honors from LMC with an Associate in Arts degree and earnedÌýa Bachelor of Applied Arts from Central Michigan University. An avid musician,ÌýMelissa is a member of the Southshore Concert Band and is an active member ofÌýSt. Joseph Catholic Church.

Melissa Zmyslo received the Alumni Achievement Award in 2008.
