Alumni Achievement Award: Stephenie Henderson
Stephenie Henderson chose to attend LMC because of the opportunity toÌýpursue a degree along with playing softball and volleyball at the collegiate level onÌýa full scholarship. She earned her Associate of Arts degree in 1993 from LMC, theÌýsame year that LMC won the NJCAA softball national championship. She receivedÌýherÌý Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education in 1997 from WMU, where sheÌýattended on a softball scholarship.
As a student-athlete, her coaches inspired her to become a coach once she wasÌýout of college. On the baselines, she was an assistant softball coach at LMC for aÌýyear, then a graduate assistant coach at the University of Notre Dame for two yearsÌýrecruiting national-caliber athletes and planning softball camps and clinics. HerÌýnext stop was at Loyola University Chicago where she served as head softball coachÌýfor three years, then spent a year as the assistant softball coach at Michigan StateÌýUniversity recruiting and coordinating team travel.
Stephenie’s numerous honors and achievements include winning the collegiate awardÌýfor outstanding community service at Loyola for the team’s fundraising efforts for Misericordia, NFCA Regional Coaching Staff of the Year at MSU, Horizon LeagueÌýChampions at Loyola, and Big East Coaching Staff of the Year at Notre Dame.
Stephenie Henderson was awarded an Alumni Achievement Award in 2012.
