Explore What Comes Next

Choosing a career does not have to mean having everything figured out right away. Career exploration can help you better understand your interests, values, skills, personality, and the types of work environments that may be a good fit for you.

Your Student Success Coach can help you explore your options and connect what you are learning at LMC to potential career paths.

Not sure what career path fits you best? Start with Focus 2 Career, a free online career assessment tool for LMC students. Focus 2 Career is a self-guided career planning tool that helps you explore how your interests, values, personality, skills, and educational goals connect to potential careers and majors.

Through Focus 2 Career, you can:

  • Explore your interests, values, personality, and skills.
  • Learn more about potential career paths.
  • Explore majors and programs that connect to your interests.
  • Research career options and occupations.
  • Identify careers that may be a good fit for your strengths and goals.
  • Begin developing a plan for your future.

After you complete the assessment, schedule an appointment with your Student Success Coach. Your coach will help you make sense of your results and plan your next steps.

Sometimes the best way to explore a career is to see it in action.

Job shadowing allows you to learn more about a career or industry by observing a professional in their work environment. This experience can help you better understand the day-to-day responsibilities, workplace environment, skills, and pathways connected to a career.

Job shadows can help you:

  • Learn what a typical day looks like.
  • Ask questions of someone working in the field.
  • Gain insight into workplace culture and expectations.
  • Explore career options before committing to a specific path.
  • Build professional connections.

Talk with your Student Success Coach about your career interests and potential job shadow opportunities.
